It was a day of travel. Reaching Alike to Gulbarga, both situated in Karnataka, was not an easy task! Bhagawan’s entourage started from Alike in the wee hours of the morning, much before dawn, to Mangalore Airport. Thanks to the flight connectivity, the entourage had to fly from Mangalore to Bangalore, and then to Hyderabad. From Hyderabad, they reached Gulbarga by road at around 7pm in the evening. Students were neatly lined up, chanting Vedas to welcome their dear Lord and His guests.
After a quick refreshment, everyone made their way to ‘Ananda Nilayam’. Swami’s residence is situated right in the centre of this pentagon shaped school building. It is very unique as Swami lives right in the midst of His only property, His students!
Swami named the magnificent architectural marvel, ‘Ananda Nilayam’ two years ago, during the grand inauguration. Swami’s room is on the Mezzanine floor. The students take care of Swami’s needs everyday and they do it with much devotion. And why not? For they truly believe that Swami stays there and experiences all that is offered to Him. Swami called Sri B N Narasimha Murthy, spoke to him about the preparations for the grand inauguration of the Sri Sathya Sai Saraswati Boys Hostel, the next morning. This hostel currently is the largest hostel ever built by Swami, even bigger than those in Anantapur, Prasanthi Nilayam or Brindavan. The uniqueness of the building is that it has a center stage with lawns around, which can be used as a venue for conducting programmes. It has been built taking into consideration every code and norm of a hostel – large corridors, huge bathroom spaces, well thought of utilities and even spaces for nurturing fine arts. While the construction work of the hostel progressed at an accelerated pace, few aspects here and there could not be completed. The benevolent Lord said, “A child is born without teeth or much hair. The time has come for this hostel building to be inaugurated. The rest will follow.”
Last year, when Swami had visited the campus, He noticed that the students were living on a floor above their classrooms, with limited space. He promised them a new hostel building within a year, so they could live more conveniently and comfortably in a larger space. Swami always thinks about the comfort of His students. Physical or subtle, this aspect is very dear to His heart; the love of a thousand mothers! And of course, God’s word can never fail!
The new batch of grade six students have joined the campus this year, and they were joyful beyond words to have Swami in their midst, for the very first time! Many alumni who had passed out from the Gulbarga campus also joined the current students to welcome their beloved Lord.
After speaking to Sri Narasimha Murthy, Swami also called Sri Govinda Reddy, Chairman of the Gulbarga campus. He lovingly enquired about the welfare of the students, the facilities and assured that all pending construction work will be completed in due course of time.
Swami thereafter summoned Dr K P Saileela, who has joined as the Chairperson of all the Girls Campuses, and also the Director of the Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Girls Education Committee. She told Bhagawan that it was indeed a blessing for her to be able to witness such miracles of Swami, in such remote and rural parts of India! Grand beautiful edifices, located in the most picturesque surroundings, are a proof of Swami’s continuing presence and the continuing mission for the welfare of humanity!
Thereafter, Swami was served His dinner, and He retired for the day.
