Easwaramma Day Celebrations and Bhoomi Puja of the new Sri Sathya Sai Prasanthiniketanam Girls Campus – 06 May, 2016

The 6th of May is observed as Easwaramma Day in remembrance of the chosen Mother of the Sathya Sai Avatar. Mother is the physical manifestation of God, Baba has always said and by His own example, He has always emphasised the need to respect and be grateful to one’s parents.

Bhagawan had embarked on His mission to provide free education, healthcare and water to mankind at the behest of his mother, who was moved by the plight of the villagers in Puttaparthi. While His first stamp of love came in the form of the women’s college that was set up in Anantapur, history was made again when Bhagawan laid the foundation to the opening of yet another women’s education campus today. Under Bhagawan’s continued guidance, the Bhoomi pooja of Sri Sathya Sai Prashanthi Niketanam – Girls campus, was held at Nalladadiranahalli, Chikkaballapur District (about 13 kilometers from Sathya Sai Grama, Muddenahalli). Truly resonating with its name- “Prashanthi”, the site for the new campus is located in a picturesque valley surrounded by hills and bountiful vegetation all around.

The morning proceedings

Devotees were seated at the venue awaiting the arrival of their Lord while melodious bhajans suffused the air with devotional anticipation. Bhagawan arrived by 9.30 AM and was welcomed by the ceremonial Poornakumbam and Vedam procession by the Pre – University students of the Sri Sathya Sai Prashanthi Niketanam. Once Swami ascended the dais, the morning’s programme began with invocation followed by a brief introduction on the significance of the day.

Dr Vinodini Mahishi, Chairperson of Sri Sathya Sai Prashanthi Niketanam welcomed the gathering and expressed gratitude to Bhagawan for His love and compassion. The Chief Guest for the day was Mrs Prema Krishna, wife of Sri SM Krishna, Ex-Union Minister for External Affairs, Government of India.

This was followed by heartfelt speeches by two students of the Prashanthi Niketanam campus. The first speaker was Kumari Javali Battu , II year PU- Arts section. She shared with the audience her journey from a mere high school student to becoming a Sai- student, and went on to narrate a recent incident where Bhagawan showed His omnipresence and saved her family and her life from what could have been a fatal road accident.

The second speaker was Kumari Reshma Kunder, a student of the II yr PU- Science stream. Hailing from a town in Chikkamagalur district, she spoke of how Bhagawan has always been present in her life, protecting, guiding and guarding her at all times. Both the students in all humility expressed that their only desire that was to serve Bhagawan in His mission and remain His worthy instruments.

The next speaker to address the gathering was Dr KP Sai Leela. Having completed her education at Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Anantapur Campus, she then went on to serve as a Professor in the Department of English in the campus. On Bhagawan’s command, she will now be heading all the girls’ campuses as its Chairperson. She regaled the audience with her own experiences as a student of the Sathya Sai College while it was still in its infant years. She inspired and urged the students on the need to work together and most importantly to consider every work – big or small as their own work and dedicate it to the Lord.

Sri B N Narasimha Murthy, Chief Mentor of the Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Institutions was the last speaker for the morning. He began by congratulating the students of the Prashnathi Niketanam campus for their excellent Vedam rendition, and commended the two speakers for their straight-from-the-heart speeches. He then went to say how it is important to teach the student the language of the heart. Reminiscing Bhagawan’s wish to perform a Bhoomi Puja for a girls’ campus on Easwaramma Day three years ago, he expressed gratitude and awe for the day that was a witness to the materialisation of Baba’s grand vision. He also revealed to the audience the purpose of Bhagawan opening 30 educational Institutions in the state of Karnataka – 10 of which will be for girl students. Morality and character development are the need of the hour, he said and the Sathya Sai system of integral education stands tall as a lighthouse for the world to emulate and replicate this.

Bhagawan then blessed the audience with His divine message. This was followed by Bhoomi Pooja of the blessed land by Bhagawan, along with the dignitaries and veterans of the Institution.

Aarthi was then offered to Swami and Prasadam was distributed to everybody.
