Morning Session

This morning was fun filled with boat and horse rides on the cards. Children woke up with a lot of excitement and so did Swami.

Soon after breakfast, He called the batch of students and staff who were returning to Muddenahalli and Alike, as they had to go back and make arrangements for the National Youth Meet , May 25-27, in Muddenahalli and Swami’s visit to Alike for the opening of the new PU College building for Boys and the new girls PU college. Swami told them in the interview that it is time for them to move on from rights to responsibilities and therefore trusting them, Swami was sending them back ahead of the others. I thought to myself that Swami need not have explained the reasons, but could have simply told them to do what He says, with all the authority at His command, yet He chose to talk to them at length to explain the need for them to go back, a lesson that will stay with me for long.

Not just that, He saw to it that they went first for boating, also gave them money for shopping and a group photo! Swami asked all of them to assemble in the balcony outside His room, walked around distributing His photo to all, saying ” See! I am with each one of you, I am as many as you are”. After giving His framed photos to all, He clapped His hands and pranked them saying, “Photo Session is over as I have given my photo to each one of you”. But as they prayed He sat in the chair and gave them a group photo to cherish forever! He saw them leave from the balcony and kept waving to them and they waved back, He waved again and they responded again, the divine romance continued for sometime.

Thereafter He came down to meet the second batch of students, staff and guests who were waiting down stairs. After briefly talking to many guests who were to leave that day, He went around giving envelopes with cash to all of them to buy themselves something, saying that the shop keepers will be happy and would develop faith that Sai Baba is back in Kodai.

Swami then Himself got into the car to take the next batch of people for boating and horse riding. He went around the lake, escorted by police officials and volunteers who cleared the road by going ahead. After He was satisfied that the students were happy and were enjoying themselves, He returned back. On the way, He briefly dropped in to a hospital to bless a devotee who had fractured her hip. He did not forget His little duties towards the devotee, amidst all the engagements, went and consoled her that her fracture was a very minor one and she would be okay in a week’s time, unlike the fracture that He had suffered in the physical body which was far more severe.

After returning to the bungalow, He called the devotees who were about to leave after lunch and blessed them with gifts, guidance and group photos.

Evening Session

The evening session was a musical one again! We had the famed Malladi brothers perform some of His favourite Kritis and compositions to His delight. ” Ra Rama Ma Inti Daaka” (Oh Rama come to our home) and “Janula Madhya Thirugade Jagapathy” (The lord of the world moved amidst the people) being the favourite of all times. As they sang “Ra Rama”, Swami said, “this was the song that Late M S Subbalakshmi, sang and welcomed me when I visited her home in Chennai”. He even corrected a poem sung by the Malladi brothers, which was Swami’s own composition on the glory of motherhood. Swami blessed both the brothers with gifts.

Sri Narasimhamurthy spoke next by taking cue from the last song about mother, saying that the prayer made by his mother during her last moments to Swami to ‘forgive her son for all his follies and never deny him the divine proximity’, is the reason why even after leaving the body Swami has not forsaken him. He felt very blessed and touched by the fact that Swami came first to him in Muddenahalli and is using him as an instrument in the current mission which is the most unique one. When Sri Narasimhamurthy thanked Mrs Mallika Srinivasan for inviting Malladi brothers to sing for Swami today, Swami immediately corrected Him by saying that it is not anyone else but Swami Himself who draws people to Himself.

Swami asked, “If a postman carries the invitation, does that mean that the post man has invited?” Likewise, it is Swami who sends invitations to many through various postmen, but some accept and come whereas some reject and refrain. He spoke briefly about, people complaining and questioning as to why all are not being given this opportunity now to understand and be with Swami this way. Swami explained that, “Swami always goes and knocks at their door and waits for it to open from inside so that He can go in only if they allow. He would not break the door like a thief and barge in unceremoniously, as that would be below His dignity”.

Swami asked Mrs Mallika Srinivasan to speak a few words. She expressed her joy for having found Swami again this way and did confess that Swami had sent word for her in 2012 itself through her husband but somehow the message did not get delivered. Swami immediately said, “It was the fault of the postman”. She was overjoyed and narrated a few incidents about how Swami has taken great care of their business and family at every step, and they are what they are today only because of Him.

Swami said, “Though Krishna is there to guide and grace, yet arjuna has to do his part of duty to attain prosperity, success and fame as mentioned in Bhagawad Gita. Both Human efforts and God’s grace together can achieve anything. So if there is no success, you must not doubt God’s grace as it is there for all equally, you must recheck whether your efforts are enough or not?”

Swami then asked the Malladi brothers to speak about their way of practising for hours to perfect their music. One of the brothers spoke about the endless hours of practise that they and their guru would put in every single day. He quoted a verse which said, “One fourth of success comes by being at guru’s feet, another quarter comes by self effort, another quarter is due to the right kind of company of co-scholars and co-aspirants and finally the last fourth part comes with time by practise through the grace of God”. He spoke about this Triplet package of God’s grace, Guru’s teachings and Individual Sadhana, which are self-fulfilling.

Swami again spoke for a while saying that, Man’s effort is very important in all fields including spirituality, there is no substitute to hard work and practise. God’s grace will be wasted if efforts are not put, like rainwater would not get collected in a pot that is upside down. Swami said that you must do your duty first and expect results later. Quoting two very important slokas from Bhagwad gita, “Ananyaschintayanto Mam …” and “Sarvadharmaan Parityajya..” , Swami explained how we always talk about the second line of the verse which carries the promise of protection given by Krisna, but fail to follow the first line which talks about what the devotee needs to do in the first place. Swami said that we must put our efforts first to utilise the grace well.

Thereafter Swami answered a few questions from the devotees untill the dinner was anounced. Taking arathi and blessing all, Swami went upstairs, where he granted a private interview to the Malladi brothers before his dinner.
