New Year Celebrations – January 1, 2017
The New Year of 2017 began on a happy note with Bhagawan splendid entry followed by Vedic invocations by students of the first-year Pre-University college chanting the Pranahuti Mantra. There were many firsts and launches on this day at the Sri Sathya Sai Premamrutham. To begin with, Bhagwan launched two CDs put together by the alumni and alumnae of various Sathya Sai Institutions. The CD titled Bhajana Sudha, was inspired and guided by Bhagawan at every step of the way. Within a span of three days, nine Bhajans were composed which was truly Bhagawan’s inspiration. Swami lovingly taught them the right way to chant AUM and expounded each and every aspect of this CD.
The next launch had the most eminent musicians attached to it. The Sri Sathya Sai Smaranam-Volume 4 brought out by the Veena Vahini Team was released by Bhagawan. The proceeds of this album will be offered to the well-being of destitute children at Sai Anandam, Bhubaneswar (Orissa). Veena Vahini (http://www.veenavahini.org/) is an endeavour with the Divine Guidance to enable a seeker find inner communion with life through music. Soon to be registered as Non-Profit, Veena Vahini is being led by Pandir Shiv Kumar Sharma and Sri Mahesh Babu as the Chief Mentors and Trustees along with Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia and Pandit Jasraj.
The team that occupied centre stage next was the team from the Annapoorna Trust. The breakfast programme started by the devoted team has won many an accolade from Bhagawan because of their dedicated efforts to provide nutritious food to the children in the morning hours before the village children attend school. The team prayed to Swami for His blessing after He commanded that the breakfast programme graduate from providing just milk and banana to a sumptuous and nutritious meal to children from almost 50 schools from the 67 that are currently catered to now. The team offered their gratitude to Bhagawan for giving them the strength to carry out this massive task.
Many such initiatives that have been started in Muddenhalli have spread globally and youth in many countries have taken up the responsibility of being part of service activities. To let all youth know of the progress made on various service initiatives, the Sai Youth Global Newsletter was launched by Bhagawan. Sister Krishna Subhaga and Anand Kadali, youth leaders of India presented this on behalf of all the youths around the world. This is a weekly newsletter which will go to all the youth on the One World, One Sai platform.
Sri Narasimha Murthy addressed the august gathering next by quoting Bhagawan’s words of advice to the Veena Vahini Team, “Spread the glory and love of God through Music”. He also quoted Aldous Huxley, “Next to silence that comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is Music” and Dr Samuel Johnson who said, “Music is the only pleasure without vice.” He expatiated the point with a line from a Saint Tyagaraja composition “Nadaloludai Brahmanandam(u)andave Manasa”. He stressed it was Music that connects human heart to the Divine soul. He also revealed about Swami’s trip to Sri Lanka this evening to inspire the team that is overseeing the construction of a hospital that is coming up at Sri Sathya Sai Karuna Nilayam, an Ashram in the seashore on a 50 acres land at a place called Batticaloa which has over 30000 war widows residing in the area. He insisted youths and devotees to come and be part of His Mission.
The New Year Celebrations Satsang concluded with Bhagawan’s Discourse where Swami emphasised that every day in the year needs to be celebrated as a new day. And each day has to be spent by being happy. And the true definition of Happiness can be experienced in God’s union. And what is true union with God? All the time communicating to Him who is in our Heart is the True Happiness; is the True Union with God. Swami mentioned that in a letter to students He wrote many decades ago, He said, “Happiness is an internal conscious experience which comes truly from within”.
After Bhagawan’s discourse arati was offered to Him and prasadam was distributed to all devotees.
