Human beings have a choice, not by killing but by sharing with each other, they can live. On one side, there are people dying of hunger, there are people dying of diseases, there are people dying of deprivation and on the other side, there are people who do not know how to spend their money and they waste it in all kinds of ways which are absolutely disgusting to even think about. This thinking of selfishness is the root cause of all the problems in the world today. There is no disease which is equivalent to greed. If you carefully observe, there is nothing less in this world, there is something for everyone. Earth is far wiser than the earthlings. And, earth knows how to provide for all the human beings and all the other creatures who are dwelling in it.
Two per cent of the people in the world control 50% of world’s wealth. This is the reason why the world is in the state in which it is today. We should not become like that. When you hoard more than what you require, at the same time there are others who are not even having basic needs fulfilled, aren’t you in a way being an animal, killing someone? Why so many people are dying of hunger is because so many people who are capable of helping them are not willing to do. So, in a way these people who are dying of hunger are actually being killed in an indirect way by those who have more than enough.
This is the message I went to teach to the people of America that if you have more, share with those who do not have; if you are healthy, help somebody who is sick; if you are educated, take the responsibility of educating somebody who is not; if you are capable, help somebody else become capable and this is the way lead the world in the right direction. In America, in some places, a patient even cannot die without paying the bill. In such a situation, how is Swami building hospitals which are running totally free? How is He running institutions where they don’t have to pay any fee? They are very surprised. In fact, they are unable to believe it. See, this is the beginning of a revolutionary thought in the American culture where people want to come to India, see our institutions and learn how we do it selflessly without fees, without charges – is it possible to do in America? Is it possible to establish such institutions in America? They want to come, understand and learn from us. This is the great honour that we have to teach the world how society should live.
