Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba was born in a tiny hamlet called Puttaparthi on Nov 23rd, 1926. Born with complete awareness of His own Divinity, He set out on a mission to awaken the Divinity latent in all of mankind. Love All and Serve All was His clarion call to humanity in this mission of transformation. He established several institutions in areas of Educare, Healthcare and Sociocare, so that man could engage himself in these projects of Love and Service, and raise himself from selfishness towards selflessness. After 85 years of living His life as His message, Sri Sathya Sai Baba decided to shed His Physical Body on April 24th 2011. However, His earthly sojourn did not end there, nor has His mission. Soon after, He announced His continued presence in the Subtle Body and also His intention to expedite the process of transformation from man to divine.

During one of His initial interactions in the subtle form, He elucidated thus: “Everyone in this world has four types of bodies – Sthoola Shareera – the physical body; Sookshma Shareera– the subtle body; Ati Sookshma Shareera – the higher subtle body; and Para Sookshma Shareeera – the omnipresent supersubtle body. Sthoola Shareera is the physical body which anyone can see. Right now, I am not in the physical body, but in the Sookshma Shareera (subtle body) which is beyond the physical. In My Sookshma Shareera I can move to any part of the world without taking any time. In My Ati Sookshma Shareera I enter the dreams and meditations of people and guide them. In Para Sookshma Shareera, I am present in every atom. At this point of time, you are in the physical body and if you are in a room, you cannot see what is outside since there is a wall in between. But Sookshma Shareera is not bound by desha, kala and paristhiti (space, time and circumstances) and therefore cannot be seen with physical eyes.”

Thus began an unprecedented new chapter in the journey of Divine Love and boundless Grace between Baba and His devotees. Swami, as He is lovingly addressed by devotees across the world, stressed on the importance of the individual transformation, laying out a golden path from the feeling of ‘I’ (Vyashti – Individual) to ‘We’ (Samashti – Society) to ‘HE’ (Parameshti – God).

Six new schools and a super specialty hospital sprung up in a mere three years since His announcing His presence in the subtle form. Many more service activities have been initiated in His relentless expression of unconditional love. These service activities provide an opportunity for every individual in finding his or her true God-self by engaging in selfless acts of seva (service).
