Continuing with the celebration of Annual Sports and Cultural Meet, the evening of 17th January was abuzz with expectations of another golden chance to be in the proximity of Bhagawan, and also revel in the musical love that His students offer to Him through their dedicated and diligent learning and playing.
Bhagawan entered the Premamrutham Hall and glided through the devotees, accepting letters, flowers, distributing birthday candies, and counselling, assuring and guiding the pining hearts of devotees.
The programme started with the Vedic invocation by the students of Grade 6 of Sri Sathya Sai Karunyaniketanam, Tumkur Campus. They chanted Ganesha Ghana Patha. Happy with their learning and performance, Bhagawan called them and blessed them and also posed for group photographs.
The first performance of the evening was by ‘Sai’s Symphony’, the Girls’ Brass Band, which comprises students of Sri Sathya Sai Prashanthiniketanam P U College for Girls and Centre for Human Excellence, Nallakadirenahalli Campus. Within a short period, these young students have practiced and learned the intricacies of Western music, and they performed to the delight and pride of their Mother Sai. Guided by their able teacher, Mr Dimitris Lambrianos, the students performed various pieces including ‘Four Seasons,’ ‘The Hungarian Dance,’ ‘I will follow You,’ and ‘Can Can.’
A short video about the band was shown giving a glimpse of how the students got the chance to be in the band and how their dedication and devotion is rewarded by Bhagawan through His Grace. Sister Suma Patil spoke about her experience of how she prayed to Bhagawan to let her be a part of the band and how she received her heart’s desire and now wants only to serve Bhagawan wherever she may be.
The performance was followed by a solo performance on piano by the child prodigy, Ishaan. Ishaan performed 12 variations of the melody on which popular rhymes ‘Twinkle Twinkle’ and ‘Ba Ba Black Sheep’ are composed. It was just mesmerizing to see his electrifying fingers picking nuances like child’s play. Indeed, a blessed soul, getting the chance to offer his love through music to the God of Music Himself.
Following this, the boys’ band, ‘Sai’s Angels’, performed to the delight of everyone. They performed various numbers including ‘Copa Cabana,’ ‘Another Day in Paradise,’ ‘Oye Como Va,’ Zorbas,’ ‘Mission Impossible’ and closed their performance with the popular bhajan ‘Love is My Form,’ which was performed by the boys’ and girls’ bands together.
A short video was played about how the boys’ band dedicatedly works to please their Lord and wants to serve Him through music. Brother Aryan Rajesh expressed his gratitude to Bhagawan for letting him be a part of the band and learn so much.
The blessed teacher, Brother Dimitris also spoke at the end of the performance and thanked Bhagawan for His guidance and grace. He mentioned that without students’ devotion to Bhagawan and their surrender to do His Will, the bands would not exist. He expressed his heart-touching emotions when he said that he feels he plays with Bhagawan when he plays with His students.
It is indeed a unique modus-operandi where love is the only operating principle. The genesis and functioning of these bands is indeed a glorious chapter in the saga of Sai, His love towards His students, and also the unique relationship that He shares with them.
Pleased with their performance, Bhagawan walked on to the stage and posed for photographs and blessed everybody. It was proud and doting mother showering her love on her children.
Mangala Arati was offered to Bhagawan, and the programme came to a close.
