On the evening of 30 November, Bhagawan and His entourage proceeded to the Bishwa Bangla Convention Centre for a Satsang to celebrate the initiation of the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani in West Bengal. Sri Gautam Deb, Minister of Tourism graced the evening, along with Pujya Chidanand Saraswati Ji from Parmarth Niketan, Rishikesh.
Sri Subhojit Roy Mukherjee, trustee of the Sri Sathya Sai Aarogya Vahini Trust, West Bengal commenced the proceedings of the evening by speaking about the health service initiatives taken up by the youth of West Bengal and recounted how four years ago, he had requested Bhagawan Baba to build a hospital in West Bengal. At that time, Bhagawan had told Sri Subhojit to start with a medical van and if the youth were able to sustain the initiative, He would give them a small hospital to run. Bhagawan then promised that if they managed to sustain the small hospital as well, He Himself would come and initiate the building of a larger hospital in West Bengal. “Today, after only three years into this medical initiative, moved by the prayers of thousands of mothers in West Bengal, Bhagawan has graced this blessed State in order to initiate the building of another Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital for Paediatric Cardiac Care”, he submitted emotionally. Praying to Bhagawan to make use of all in His expanding mission, Sri Subhojit concluded his talk with a video presentation on the work of the Sri Sathya Sai Aarogya Vahini Trust.
The next speaker for the evening was Smt. Sowmya Jandhyala, and she narrated about the beautiful journey of the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospitals Since its inception to the present day, replete with a few heart-rending anecdotes of little hearts which have been touched by Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani.
Sri Arvind Thyagarajan followed next, with a presentation on innovations for Paediatric Cardiac sreening and training. Sri Arvind a scientist from Bay Area in California, has invented an Intelligent Stethoscope which has Integrated EKG and therefore allows for this mobile device to reach and save many more little hearts. He then offered this first device to the State of West Bengal for use by the team of Sri Sathya Sai Aarogya Vahini.
The next speaker was Sri Goutam Deb, Tourism Minister for the Government of West Bengal and MLA elected from the Dabgram-Phukwari constituency. Offering his gratitude to Bhagawan for bringing Sai Sanjeevani to West Bengal, he spoke about the need for such an institution as Sai Sanjeevani in West Bengal and heartily welcomed the endeavour.
This was followed by a talk by His Holiness, Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji from Parmarth Niketan. Pujya Swamiji spoke about the Divine touch of Bhagawan Baba which is able to make anything happen and has brought the consciousness of loving all and serving all, to hundreds of thousands across the globe. Pujya Swamiji praised the youth who have joined and continue to join the medical mission of Bhagawan, and reminded everyone to keep feeling Bhagawan’s presence and continue moving along this beautiful journey of love and selfless service.
The next speaker was Sri C Sreenivas, Chairman of the Sri Sathya Sai Health and Education Trust. He spoke about pain and prayer being the two things which the Lord always answers, and for which He comes rushing and both of these defining aspects have played a part in bringing Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani to West Bengal. Praising the youth of West Bengal who have taken on the medical mission in the state, Sri Sreenivas expressed his gratitude to Bhagawan, for it is His love that keeps each heart beating for Him and Him alone.
This was followed by Bhagawan’s much-awaited Divine Discourse. Bhagawan spoke about the great contributions of the state of West Bengal, in the form of renowned people such as Swami Vivekananda Rabindranath Tagore, Jagdish Chandra Bose and Subhash Chandra Bose among others. Bhagawan declared that being the Divine Mother, He felt the pain and prayers of thousands of mothers and felt compelled to bring Sai Sanjeevani to them, in order to save their ailing little children. Due to the shortage of specialists in Paediatric Cardiology, Bhagawan also declared that Kolkata would also become home to a college for higher studies in the field, providing the opportunity for further studies totally free of cost. Reminding everyone that in order to make Swami happy and win His grace, we must make others happy. Thus, granting His Divine benediction, Bhagawan concluded His Divine Discourse.
After a short break, the programme continued with Nrityanjali, a series of dance performances by students of the Tanushree Shankar Dance Academy. Depicting various aspects of life both human and animal, the dance group put on a scintillating performance with much variety and style. They ended their offering with a beautiful number depicting the concept of surrender, based on the Sufi poet Jalaluddin Rumi’s poem, Human Being.
Bhagawan then accepted Mangala Arati and thus concluded the final evening in Kolkata with the Divine.
