Sri Sathya Sai Vrindawith Love, at His service

Divine Visit – Naya Raipur – Chhattisgarh- July 16 to 18, 2018

It’s said that ‘Faith can move Mountains’. Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital stands out as the testimony to this marvellous statement. There was an astonishing jubilation and ecstasy in the air, as the entire team at Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital was ready to receive the Supreme Personality and His chosen army. Students, both boys and girls from the Sri Sathya Sai University For Human Excellence, and alumni who were pursuing their medical course in the various medical schools, were present to receive the benediction from their Divine Master at Naya Raipur on July 17, 2018!

Swami had arrived with previous night, and led Sri T B Jayachandra, former Minister of Karnataka on a quick tour of Sri Sathya Sai Sowbhagyam Centre for Human Development, and the C Rajeshwari Auditorium. After speaking to the team, He partook His dinner and retired.

The next morning, July 17, 2018 began at 9 a.m., much to the joy of the nursing students, for it was an exclusive session with them. Thereafter, Swami proceeded for a tour of the Hospital. He entered the Hospital at around 9.30 a.m. along with Sri C Sreenivas, Sri B N Narasimha Murthy, Sri T B Jaychandra, few esteemed guests, and the staff of Sanjeevani. Swami went around the hospital talking to various patients for nearly two hours. It was truly ‘love in action’, as the Lord walked around, blessed each and every child! Thereafter, everyone proceeded to the C Rajeshwari Auditorium at the Sri Sathya Sai Sowbhagyam for a staff gathering with Bhagawan. A beautiful cultural presentation by Bal Vikas students was the first programme, and this was followed by a few Doctors expressing their journey at Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani. After Mangala Arati, Swami was served lunch by the staff of the Hospital.

The time had arrived for the grand inauguration of ‘Chirayu Chhattisgarh Centre of Excellence in Pediatric Cardiac Care & Training’ by Honorable Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Dr Raman Singh.

‘Chirayu Chhattisgarh’ is a joint initiative by the Government of Chhattisgarh and Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital, Naya Raipur and is India’s first collaborative centre for Pediatric Cardiac Excellence.

The word ‘Chirayu’ in Hindi means ‘long life’. For countless children across the state, born with fragile hearts, ‘Chirayu’ remains a distant dream. It is to convert the dream into a reality that this Centre of Excellence has been established. Apart from its expanding work of performing more child heart surgeries free of cost, Team Sanjeevani also aims to provide necessary training to a wide range of frontline health workers of the state.

Swami, along with Dr. Raman Singh (Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh), along with Sri T B Jayachandra (Former Minister for Law, Parliamentry Affairs & Irrigation, Karnataka), Sri C. Sreenivas (Chairman, Sri Sathya Sai Health & Education Trust), Sri B N Narasimha Murthy, and numerous staff walked through the newly established Surgical & ICU Complexes that were set-up in a record 3-month period!!! The dignitaries thereafter convened at the C. Rajeshwari Auditorium in Sri Sathya Sai Sowbhagyam.

After the ceremonial lamp lighting, Dr Ashish Katewa was invited to speak. He said, “The journey of the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani started in March 2012 when the Honourable Chief Minister laid the foundation stone. In 2013, the Divine Mother and Child Health Program (DMCHP) was launched. 11,000 mothers and children have been administered preventive healthcare through the DMCHP programme.” With this collaboration between the Government and Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital Naya Raipur of ‘Chirayu Chhattisgarh’ he prayed and hoped that not a single child should be born with CHD in Chhattisgarh, and meet one’s end for want of care!

Thereafter, Dr Arvind Thyagarajan, a scientist from Bay Area in California, and ardent devotee of Bhagawan who was mentored by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam spoke to the gathering. He started by quoting an article in one of the most widely read and popular medical journals, which said that there are more than 300,000 children born with CHD in India every year, and 90% don’t even survive beyond their first birthday! Those dying do not even know they are dying because of CHD. He said something had to be done about screening to ensure children with CHD are detected. So he and his team have created a ‘ViScope-Stethoscope’, which can be widely used for screening by even people with a non medical background.

The first smart stheth ‘ViScope-Stethoscope’ was then offered to the honourable Chief Minister.

A book launch was held thereafter. Dr Hiramalini Sheshadri offered the book, “Towards Excellence in Modern Healthcare” to Bhagawan and the CM, and she spoke a few words about the need for excellence in modern healthcare.

Gift of Life certificates were then presented to three children including Rahul Chimnani, a two year old from Karachi, Pakistan.

Then Sri C Sreenivas and Sri T B Jayachandra addressed the gathering. A visibly moved Dr. Raman Singh had these words to share during his speech,

“Can the State ever be free of Congenital Heart Disease? I am certain, with partners like Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani, this is absolutely possible! In fact, just give me the number of Operation Theatres required and I will take care of everything else! This is truly a divine and sacred space. Over 5000 surgeries have been conducted on children from all over the world! Giving the Gift of Life to a child is the most sacred of acts.

I was also presented with the ‘ViScope-Stethoscope’, which is sure to be an important tool to help eradicate Congenital Heart Disease in the country. I have seen the entire facility and everything here is world-class! When anyone visits the State, I always make sure I tell them, it does not matter which other places you visit, but you MUST see Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital before you leave. It is a direct manifestation of Baba’s Will and Divine Blessing!”

Swami then delivered His divine message and said, “This body has been given to serve. The proper use of this body happens only when we use it for others.“ He also said that in the 10th year of this facility in Naya Raipur, it will be recognised as the number one facility in the world for pediatric cardiology.

Then Swami beckoned little three year old Ram, son of Brother Bharath, a mellifluous singer and an alumnus from the Sri Sathya Institute of Higher Learning, and his wife Smt Sangma to came on stage. Little Ram had given Swami his ‘piggy bank’ full of coins and said, “This is for children who are hurt!” Ram had been to the Raipur Hospital when he was barely two years old, and remembered seeing all the children who were in the step down ICU. This had prompted him to offer his ‘savings’ to Swami, who was completely overwhelmed, and wanted the child to hand over his contribution to the Hospital, and hence had brought him with his parents for the event to Raipur!

This, July 17 marked yet another important milestone in the sacred mission of Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani – totally free of cost, quality, and compassionate child heart care.

After the programme, Swami spoke to all the medical students who had accompanied Him. He asked Dr Ashish Katewa and the team of doctors to talk about their background, and all that they had done to reach where are they today. It was a touching and emotional scene to see these students, offer their first salary and stipend to Swami for the Hospital.

Dinner was served and Swami retired for the night.

The next morning, yesterday, July 18, Swami’s entourage flew back to Bangalore from Raipur.
