The ongoing mission of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba paved a new path in the field of Education by bringing out its real essence, ‘Atma Vidya’ or ‘Self Knowledge’, which is the most important than all kinds of wordly education. ‘Atmano Mokshartham Jagat Hitaaya Cha’, emphasisng on spiritual education for the redemption of one’s own self and thereby the welfare of the society, is the principle behind Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence. To mark the official commencement of classes at the Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba visited Gulbarga Campus from March 25 to 27, 2019, creating a new chapter in the history of global education.
Before visiting the Gulbarga Campus, He blessed the students, staff and teachers of the Sri Sathya Sai Vishwaniketanam, Hampi Campus, with His Divine visit on the morning of the March 25, 2019. It was a short but sweet reunion of the Master and His disciples, the doting Mother and Her pining children, and of course, the Divine Guardian who has taken upon Himself to take care of the welfare of these children. Bhagawan was welcomed by the students and staff of the Campus. He spoke to the students and conveyed His abundant blessings to them. Mangala Arati was offered to Bhagawan before He left for Gulbarga.
At 11.15 a.m, Bhagawan arrived at the Gulbarga Campus, Sri Sathya Sai Vidyaniketanam and Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence (SSSUHE). He was welcomed by Sri PDN Srinivasu, Vice Chancellor of the University, and the eagerly waiting staff and students. He visited the new Pre-University College (PUC) Hostel building which is being prepared to house the PUC students of the Campus.
Upon His arrival, Bhagawan lovingly spoke very briefly to the students who were waiting to hear their Lord.
In the evening, a Satsang was held in Bhagawan’s presence with students and staff of the Campus, which started with Vedic invocation by the students and talks by the Sri PDN Srinivasu and Sri Kamath, Warden of the University Campus. Dr Ravi Pillay and Sri B N Narasimha Murty also spoke before Bhagawan’s Divine Discourse.
The day of 26th March will be etched in the glorious chapters of Sai, echoing the assurance that He has often given during His Discourses, that His mission involves providing the right kind of education to even those children who cannot dream of setting a foot into a school. The morning programme commenced with Vedic invocation by the University students followed by the welcoming address by Sri A R Manjunath, Pro Chancellor of the University. He spoke about the team that had been appointed by Bhagawan for the establishment of the University, and how they had to go through many challenges. He also mentioned about Sri T B Jaya Chandra, Former Law Minister, Govt of Karnataka, who was the main reason for this University to be a reality, as it was he who struggled hard to pass the bill in the Karnataka Assembly.
The next speaker was Sri B N Narasimha Murthy, Chancellor of the University. He talked about how the institutions are run under Bhagawan’s guidance, which is not like any other educational institution. He laid stress on the importance of the teacher in the present world because it is they, who train the younger generation and if they are not trained well, it will be a huge problem for the coming generation and times. He mentioned about the sacrifice and the hard work of Dr Ravi Pillay, Smt Shamini Pillay, and their team in Singapore for the University, and also the entire campus of Gulbarga. Further, he mentioned about the effort put by Sri T B Jayachandra in the paper work which was very crucial.
Sri T B Jayachandra, in his talk, mentioned about the importance of Bhagawan’s mission in the field of education and how he was thankful to that he was given an opportunity to be a part of it. This was followed by a talk by Shivprasad Bhat, a final year University student. Brother Shivprasad spoke of how his life transformed and how everything changed in his life once he joined the Institution on the guidance of Bhagawan Himself. He spoke of the daily routine and schedule which the students follow, given by the Lord. Bhagawan has blessed Brother Shivprasad to look after the Shivamogga Campus which will commence this academic year.
Another student, Sister Sowbhagya Lakshmi, a second year University student shared her experience of studying in Bhagawan’s institution. She spoke about the hardships she had to face because she was not able to afford the expenses of her education as she came from an impoverished background. She was forced to quit her education due to many problems in her family, but it was Bhagawan’s grace that she joined this Institution. After joining, it was different for her because she had never witnessed anything like this in the past. She also mentioned that the main aim of her life now was to serve in Bhagawan’s institution and nothing else mattered to her!
The next speaker of the morning was Sri G T Devegowda, Higher Education Minister, Govt of Karnataka. He started his talk by mentioning that it was almost impossible for him to believe that such a University could ever exist! He was more surprised and happy because he was witnessing it, also for he was instrumental in its establishment. He mentioned that he believed it was all Bhagawan’s Will that he became the Minister of Higher Education so that he would be helpful in the establishment of the University, and was very thankful to Bhagawan for giving him this opportunity. As he spoke of Students and the Staff of the institution, he said that he had never seen such dedication, devotion and commitment in people for the work of God. After listening to the talks of Brother Shivprasad and Sister Sowbhagya Lakshmi, he said that this country needs young people like them and said that there would be a day when in all the places it will be Bhagawan’s students who will be the leaders and will be guiding everything. He thanked Bhagawan for choosing Gulbarga as the place for establishing the University and making the place a spiritual hub.
Bhagawan then felicitated all the dignitaries on dais for the dedicated efforts in making the University a reality. Thereafter, Bhagawan delivered His Divine Discourse on the momentous occasion.
In the evening, there was yet another Divine rendezvous with Bhagawan. A musical offering was made by the students followed by a small talk by Sri Praveen, the Warden of Hampi Campus. Like a trademark of His Grace, never forgetting anyone while blessing the sincere efforts, Bhagawan blessed the Kitchen Staff of the Campus and also posed for a group photograph with them. He spoke again with the students and staff, showering His benediction and words of Divine Advice before accepting Mangala Arati, and the Divine Visit came to a rather glorious end!
