This day was a milestone in the expansion of the Sai Family, as the parents of the students from the Pre-University, Hyderabad campus gathered at the Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence (SSSUHE) Campus in Gulbarga, for a day of enlightening discovery about Swami’s mission with the University for Human Excellence.
After the welcome breakfast, all the parents assembled in the state-of-the-art Multimedia Room of the Pentagon University building. The session started at around 11.30 a.m with Dr Hanumanth Naidu, the Registrar, who welcomed the gathering and spoke about the significance of the Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence. The second speaker of the session was Brother Bhargava Sai, intern and Warden for the Pre-University boys’ College at the Gulbarga Campus, who spoke on the various projects under the Sathya Sai Mission – healthcare, nutrition and education.
This was followed by speeches delivered by Kaligotla Lalitha Manasa and Javali Battu, both final year students, who spoke about the knowledge they had gained at the University, and Swami’s love and care. Thereafter, Smt Vijayalakshmi, Priincipal of the Hyderabad campus, addressed the parents. The morning session drew to a close with a motivational talk delivered by Dr A R Manjunath, Pro Chancellor of the University, followed by a Question and Answer session.
The afternoon session took place in the beautifully restructured Prayer Hall, started at around 4.50 p.m and was graced by Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai. The session commenced with a Vedic invocation by students of the University, followed by the first speaker, Jayashree V from final year student , who spoke about the transformation that has taken place in her family, both materially and spiritually, after she joined the Institution. Badimala Anila, another final year student, shared her journey into the Sai family. This was followed by two speeches from the parents of students of the Hyderabad campus – Mr Sundar, father of Kumari Divya, and Mrs Indira, mother of Kumari Shivani. They both expressed their willingness to enroll their daughters at the University.
Thereafter, Dr K P Saileela, Chairperson of all the girls’ campuses, addressed the gathering and spoke about Excellence, which motivated and inspired parents. The session then proceeded with a speech by Sri B N Narasimha Murthy, who explained about the true meaning of Excellence and spoke about the vision and mission of Swami, which is to transform humanity through selfless love, service, and sacrifice. Then, the most eagerly awaited moment arrived, as Swami blessed all present with His Divine Discourse.
Swami expressed His joy upon seeing all the parents who had come from near and far, and said that the change in the world can be brought only through sacrifice. Hence, He urged all the parents to allow their children to lead a life of sacrifice, and assured them that their children would become gold once they joined His University. He spoke about the tragedy that India is facing by selling Annam, Aksharam, and Arogyam, which are the fundamental rights of every human being. Swami also spoke about the importance of woman empowerment, and concluded His discourse by promising that He will look after each and every one if they surrend to Him with tremendous faith. After Swami’s discourse, the vote of thanks was rendered by Dr Hanumanth Naidu, and the session concluded with Prasadam to all the parents and staff gathered in the hall.
The motivational talks by the elders and the students of the Institution who will bring the change to this world through this ongoing Mission, left everyone inspired on this wonderful day of a promising future.
After Bhajans and devotional songs, Swami asked Sri B N Narasimha Murthy, to address everyone gathered. He spoke with great profundity, saying that until and unless one surrenders and becomes a servant of God, he/she cannot attain liberation. He also said that to meet a person who has realised himself is fortune, and that everyone have here seen such a realised person in Sri Madhusudan Sai. He reminded everyone that one must feel fortunate for having got this opportunity, and must surrender completely to God. He explained that although there are many challenges, these are in fact means to be near Him, and that the only way to have fulfilment in life is to serve Swami throughout life selflessly.
Thereafter, Swami delivered His Divine Discourse. He spoke about the parents of the students of the Hyderabad campus whom He had called to Gulbarga, and said that they were all very happy as their children were now transformed, after joining Swami’s College; and He is very happy that more children and parents are getting benefited by His institutions. He said that the only certificate for Him for all His work is knowing how much His children have improved, and that His only expectation is that it should benefit more and more people – He wants His children to share the knowledge they have gained with ten others.
Swami then quoted that ‘rolling a stone up the hill is more difficult than rolling it down the hill, and that that is how the relationship between God and the devotee
is’. It is easy to leave God, but it is hard to stay with God. Out of the billions of people in this world, only a few are getting the proximity to God – “only by the good fortune are we here with God. To receive His grace we must always do good, as we can withdraw money from our account, only until there is money available.”
Swami then remarked that many of His students were coughing, and so He asked all of them to drink turmeric milk every night before going to sleep. He advised His children to keep their body fit and healthy, and said that it is God’s gift and should be properly taken care of.
He concluded His Discourse and blessed all the students and elders. Mangala Arati was offered and after blessing the Prasadam, Swami retired for the night leaving all with the promise of a visit to the boys’ hostel on December 12, 2019.
