Bhagawan arrived by car to the Sri Sathya Sai Divyaniketanam at around 12:00 noon, and was welcomed by Vedic procession by students of Grade Six and Seven, who chanted the Shivopasana Mantra and verses from the Sri Rudram.
Swami then proceeded to the hostel building where guests, students and staff members were seated eagerly waiting for His arrival. Staff and students from the Sri Sathya Sai Sarvaniketanam Campus (Shimoga) had also arrived at Jayapura to bask in the Divine love. Accepting letters, greeting cards, signing photographs, Swami blessed everyone profusely. After a welcome address by the Warden of the Campus – Sri Kaushik, the Secretary, Sri K R Surendra also addressed the gathering. In His Divine message, Swami described to the students about the greatness of Indian Culture. He also enquired about the welfare of the students from the Shimoga Campus and promised to meet them again in the evening, as it was already time for lunch. Swami then quickly proceeded to dining hall, and partook His lunch with the students. After distributing ice creams to all, Swami retired to His residence, Sai Sadana.
In the evening, Swami was once again welcomed by Vedic procession by students of Grades Eight and Nine. Once Swami was seated, He expressed His happiness with one of the students who played the Tabla, called him on to the dias and blessed him with a token of His love. After the Warden’s Welcome speech, the evening proceedings started with Vedic invocation by the students of Grade Nine and Ten.
There were two student speakers for the evening. Master Shreyas of Grade Seven spoke about his immense fortune to be chosen by Swami for the Madiyal Narayana Bhat Scholarship Scheme. He had joined the Sri Sathya Sai Divyajyothi Vidyakendra for Grade Six last year and shared as to how happy he was to be with Swami and expressed his gratitude. Master Adayya H of Grade Ten spoke to the gathering as to how he was transformed from a mischievous student to the best student in class, and how he had been chosen to be with Swami in Kodaikanal this year. He expressed his gratitude to all his teachers, parents and friends who had helped him transform.
Sri B N Narasimha Murthy addressed the gathering about the significance of absolute faith in the word of the Guru, and quoted the example of Shabari from Ramayana.
The MLA of the Sringeri constituency, Sri T B Rajegouda also spoke about how Swami had fulfilled his desire of adopting a child and expressed His love for Swami.
Swami then gave His divine message signifying the importance of Love and Service in one’s life. Swami also spoke of the name Giridhari and said that He was also uplifting the mission of Love and Service similar to Krishna, and asked everyone to become a part of His mission in this upliftment and sanctify their lives.
The students then presented a Yakshagana performance titled Mahisha Mardini. Swami then blessed all the performers with clothes and group photographs.
Mangala Arati was offered after which Swami proceeded to the dining hall to have dinner with the students and retired for the day.
