Our children are the true wealth of our nation and in their well being rests the progress of our country. However a mother’s good health is imperative to ensure her child remains healthy and happy. September 01, 2017, witnessed the launch of a milestone programme – the Divine Mother and Child Health Program by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. The unique aspect of this programme is to prioritise early detection through comprehensive screening, timely intervention and implement preventive measures, to ensure healthy motherhood and a healthy childhood for every mother and child in the world. The programme was executed simultaneously in seven different countries of the Asia Pacific region and over the three days, over 2000 children along with 200 doctors and volunteers participated, sharing and basking in the Divine love.
The Divine Mother and Child Health Program being a continuous and ongoing programme, today envisions to cover all the six taluks of the Chikkaballapur district.
On September 20, 2017 a working group meeting of the Divine Mother and Child Health Program was held at Sathya Sai Grama. The objective of the Meet was to facilitate all like minded individuals and institutions to come together, collaborate and cohesively strive to achieve the common goal of building a healthy nation. Around 200 doctors, para medics and several others of the medical fraternity from the various Primary Health Centres of the Chikkballapur district, gathered at Sri Sathya Sai Premamrutham.
Before the official proceedings began, there was a video presentation which showcased the various projects such as education, healthcare and sociocare in the continuing mission of Bhagawan.
Bhagawan arrived at the venue at around 10.45 a.m led by Vedic procession and Poorna Kumbam. Once the dignitaries were seated on the dais, tokens of welcome were extended to them. The programme then began with Vedic invocation by students of the Sri Sathya Sai Centre for Human Excellence who chanted the Sarva Devata Gayatri.
The first speaker for the morning was Dr Sathish Babu. An alumnus of the Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Institution, he is currently heading the department of endocrinology, BGS Global Hospital, Bangalore. Through a presentation, Dr Sathish Babu highlighted the key areas of support that were identified in the programme. He reiterated that the programme is designed to extend all possible support to the existing government schemes, and initiatives for the welfare of rural women and children.
Thereafter, the District Health Officer of Chikkballapur district addressed the gathering. Expressing gratitude to be a part of the programme, he described how various independent organisations in the district were extending support to promote the health and well- being of the common people. He concluded by assuring that all required measures would be undertaken to reduce maternal and infant mortality rate in the district.
The next speaker was Sri C Sreenivas, Chairman of the Sri Sathya Sai Health and Education Trust. He began his talk by congratulating all the doctors and healthcare workers particularly those from the various Primary Health Centres, and commended their indispensable service to the rural people. He also called upon all the alumni doctors from the Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva institutions to be a part of this noble endeavour as a mark of gratitude to the district they studied in. He urged everyone to carry both devotion and passion for work in their hearts which would enable them to achieve success in this grand mission of making Chikkballapur a model district for the whole country to emulate.
Bhagawan then blessed everybody with His Divine message.
Mangala Arati was offered to Bhagawan followed by distribution of Prasadam.
